There has been a substance misuse service in Gravesend since 1996, which has been there to support service users who have found themselves with problems due to drugs and alcohol. This service was based at Parrock Street in Gravesend and supported service users in Gravesham and Dartford. In April 2012 the contract for these services was awarded to the CGL. In June 2013 the Gravesend site moved to its new premises, 8 – 9 Berkley Crescent Gravesend.
The service offers an open access service and a wide range of support for anyone suffering problems around drugs and alcohol. We support service user’s right through treatment and beyond. We have a team of Peer Mentors who understand and have experienced the recovery process for themselves and are now an integral part of the support that is provided here. We also signpost to other support services in the area, including housing, health and mutual aid support such as AA and NA. At CGL Gravesend we provide Peer led groups such as SMART Recovery, Family Support around addiction, and a weekly group which looks at self-esteem, assertiveness, anxiety & depression, relaxation and creative art.
We also provide a satellite service based at the YMCA in Dartford on a smaller scale to the service we provide in Gravesend.
